this is the TRUE meaning of it
“If you grew up in the United States, you’ve either heard the term Nigger, called someone a Nigger, or you’ve probably been called a Nigger. I was always taught not to say the word, that it was derogatory & racist etc. We were all taught that the word Nigger derives from the Spanish word “Negro” which means “Black Object” therefore labeling someone as not really a human being.”
I learned this earlier this week week from none other than the teacher himself, KRS One, that the origins of the word are from Ethiopia and Egypt. It means King, or God, or Man.
if you read the Webster or Oxford English dictionary definition of the word it is as follows:
noun
a member of any dark-skinned people.
other words like “inferior” and “socially disenfranchised” were used to describe it. Now I don’t have to do the math for you because I’ve given you the equation and you should be able to put 2 and 2 together. I am still uncertain, however, as to where I stand on who should be using the word. I myself do not let it leave these lips. I feel that if the definition could be changed in the oxford english dictionary and websters dictionary, to that of man, king, and god, that we could possibly start to take a step forward from this stagnant point of the topic of the word.
We have come a long way since revolutionary times and even before that, but its not far enough. Racism and prejudices are still very alive in this country, this world, and i feel that we are ignoring a lot of issues. but thats just my 2 cents. take from it what you will.
